I wanted a railway that would have automatic control. This would allow operations of trains while I was doing something else, and would be a key enabler to using a large railway "single handed".
Although I haven't made a final selection and purchased the software, it is likely that the railway will be controlled using Railroad & Co. This is an impressive software package written by Juergen Freiwald, and I have been impressed by other railways controlled by it.
