Digitrax Inc.

Digitrax are a US manufacturer of DCC systems and accessory decoders in several configurations. All the systems offered are based on the proprietary "Loconet" throttle and feedback bus, which offers substantial expansion capabilities.

Loconet is available as an open standard. Third party products are available which interface to Loconet; its specification is available (with restrictions) from their web page for individuals to develop their own interfacing products.

Digitrax have some innovative new products which go beyond the DCC standard. For example they have a "transponding" system which allows a sensor equipped layout to "know" the location of all transponder equipped locomotives.

Model Rectifier Corporation

MRC are a US based manufacturer of low cost DCC systems and decoders. They have adopted an approach of offering stripped down, minimal function systems for a very low price. For a low cost way into DCC, this may be a supplier to look at; but their products will have limited growth potential.

Lenz

Lenz are a German manufacturer of DCC systems. They originated the DCC system in the 1980's. They offer a number of systems based on their proprietary throttle bus. The systems can be expanded by the addition of throttles and modules for accessory control.
